About Us

Dave Gregson

The founder of Important To Important For, Dave Gregson, made the decision to start his not-for-profit organisation based on his own experiences dealing with bullying both as a child and as an adult in the workplace, plus his own struggle with mental health issues and an adult diagnosis of Autism.

He worked within the health and social sector for many years until an unfair dismissal after workplace bullying and discrimination led to a legal case and a successful tribunal in Dave’s favour.

This experience has given him a first-hand insight into how bad practice, bullying and intimidation can occur far too easily in the workplace and is often ignored and rationalised, creating an atmosphere of negativity and toxicity that leaves those affected feeling isolated and powerless.

As a result, he made the decision to use the experiences from his own struggle to focus his work on raising awareness of autism and other mental health issues. Using his connections with other support organisations he offers education and training to businesses and schools on the subjects of workplace bullying, Autism awareness and mental health.

Alongside his foundation, he also works with and campaigns for many charities including The National Autistic Society, Rethink Mental Illness, Mind, The Quilliam Foundation Charity, Survivors UK and The Peter Tatchell Foundation
Dave is a published author. His personal story about his struggle with mental health and bullying can be found in Graham Harris’s new book, ‘please add title here’, published soon with all proceeds going to the charity Bullies Out.

Our Mission

Our mission is to support individuals who have experienced any kind of bullying in the workplace as a result of neurodiversity or mental health issues.

We educate and advise businesses on how they can best support their employees through open and honest dialogue, equal opportunities and access to external expertise in this area.

We believe that everyone deserves access to the right support and assistance to enable them to realise their full potential within the workplace without fear of discrimination or bullying.

Any workplace bullying or discrimination that is left unchecked by the employer or not dealt with in a sensitive and empathetic manner can leave employees physically, emotionally and psychologically drained.

Those that are the target of bullying will experience significant distress and frustration which can often manifest itself in anger, anxiety or insomnia. The effects of bullying can affect a person’s wellbeing both inside and outside of the workplace and can leave them struggling to cope with psychological and often physical symptoms.

We offer tailored support and training to businesses to help them recognise the signs of workplace bullying. We encourage employers to engage in open dialogue with their colleagues and staff on the subject of bullying and mistreatment in the workplace, and support them to implement effective strategies and systems to identify and handle any situation, including the provision of support to their staff in order for them feel supported, listened to and valued.
